This course offers an interdisciplinary study of how gender and sexuality intersect with other social differences; and equips you to better understand and analyze how those intersections structure society, impact diverse social groups, and inform lived experience. We will think a lot about how our conceptions of gender and sexuality are shaped by structure, privilege, and history. We will frequently explore how gender and sexuality are made much more complex by intersections with race, class, ability, and other aspects of identity. For your final project, you will be asked to write an essay examining a cultural artifact of your choice and present your research to the class in a final presentation.
