Dysphagia
This course aims at providing detailed study of anatomy and physiology of swallowing in health and a disease process. In addition, the etiology of swallowing disorders and their management and treatment will be addressed. COMD 7783 covers the dysphagia and its treatments in adults. The information pertains primarily to (a) the relevant anatomy, physiology and biomechanics of swallowing (b) assessment of swallowing function, (c neurologic, structural and functional causes of dysphagia), and (d) management and treatment of swallowing disorders. We will read substantial portions of the required textbook in addition to the topic related articles.
